Question by Megan: Is there an online engagement ring builder for NON diamond engagement rings?
I want a Pearl Engagement Ring, but it seems like EVERY online interactive ring builder only allows you to put in Diamonds and has no other options for center stones. Any websites you've found that allow for a Pearl?

I would suggest going to a store that has a restyle show. They would have styles available for you to see in person without stones in the middle called semi mounts. Then you could ask to see pearls instead of diamonds. however I would let you know as a person who has sold jewerly for over five years a pearl does stick out and is fragile. Oils and soaps can be very harsh and your ring which you would probably be wearing daily is more subject to damage. If you are looking for something different and in a june birthstone may i suggest alexandrite…its very expensive but rare and different. It has a purple/green hue.
Use the builders to find a mount you like, and then ask the jeweler to order it and place a gem of your choice as the center stone. Or, as Rochelle said, many jewelry stores do custom shows where you can choose a mount and a gem and watch them create the piece.
Also having sold jewelry for years, I would also recommend using a different gem. Pearls are typically set with a special type of glue instead of being set by metal like diamonds are, and are one of the easiest gems to damage. You would almost certainly expect to have to replace the pearl at LEAST a few times as a result of loss or damage.
There may not be something like this available, but you can always call any of the online e-tailers who are used to doing custom design work. They would be able to put together a ring for you with a pearl or any gem of your choice in no time.
